How This Came About

Sweet Iris Studio (formerly From the Heart Jewelry) began when Betty started creating jewelry made from polymer clay, a craft she learned over 20 years ago.  It was widely admired by all who saw it, and she successfully designed, created, and sold a wide variety of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and other pieces.

For many years, Betty has been interested in combining business and technology.  She has built computers, created web pages, and has knowledge of many areas of computer technology.  She had heard of 3D printing and began learning as much as she could about it, and how it can be used in the workplace and the home to print pretty much anything you would want and need.

After much research, she decided she loved it enough to make the transition from jewelry to exquisite home décor products, unique gifts and polymer clay tools using 3D printed materials.

Betty has also been interested in having a business in which she and her husband, Mark, could work together.  3D printing was the answer she was looking for, and Mark joined with her.

It turns out, the road was more difficult than they imagined.  They bought their first 3D printer and began the long process learning how to print 3D products.  Although the printer was adequate for learning the process, it was not the best printer for producing the quality of products that their customers would expect.  They bought the “Cadillac” of printers and had it shipped from east Europe.  To save costs, it was ordered as a kit, and Betty and Mark spent about 2 weeks in the evenings to assemble it.  It worked the first time they turned it on!!!

Betty and Mark spent many hours researching  the types of products that you would love to display in your home or office or give as gifts.  They have decided on a wide variety of vases, bowls, and other household items that are unique, and will enhance their customer’s life.  They set up shop both online and at local craft shows, and the response has been amazing.

We invite you to take a look around, and if you see something that you love, we would be honored if you would send it to the cart and allow us to ship it to you.

Betty has a bachelor’s degree in home economics, with a minor in music.  Mark has a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in management, with experience in corporate accounting management, and state government executive management.  They are both retired, but Mark continues his 40+ years as a tax accountant.  They are both ordained ministers in the Church of the Nazarene.  They have one daughter.
